A florist sold her flowers in three types of arrangements: roses, lilies and tulips. 25 of the arrangements were roses. The number of lily arrangements was 34 the number of rose arrangements. What fraction of the arrangements were tulips?
Need a hint?
First find what fraction the lilies are by multiplying 34 by the fraction of roses. Then add roses and lilies together before subtracting from 1 whole.
Worked answer
- Roses = 25 of total arrangements
- Lilies = 34 × 25 = 620 = 310 of total
- Roses + Lilies = 25 + 310 = 410 + 310 = 710
- Tulips = 1 - 710 = 310
Answer: 3/10
