Need a hint?

In part (b), first find how many storybooks stand for one unit of the ratio 3 : 5.

Worked answer

  1. (a) 88 : 132; divide both terms by the common factor 44, giving 2 : 3.
  2. (b) On Day 2, 5 units are 120 storybooks, so 1 unit is 120 ÷ 5 = 24.
  3. (b) Comics are 3 units, so 3 × 24 = 72 comics.
Answer: 72 comics
