Mr Faizal had 27 identical small cubes for a school exhibition. The total volume of all 27 cubes was 9261 cm³. He arranged them to form one large cube. Find the length of one edge of each small cube.
Need a hint?
First find the volume of one small cube. Then look for three equal factors whose product is its volume.
Worked answer
- Volume of one small cube = 9261 cm³ ÷ 27 = 343 cm³.
- Since 343 = 7 × 7 × 7, one edge of a small cube is 7 cm.
Answer: 7 cm
