A jacket sold for $24 after a discount of 20%. Nadia received a further discount of $4 using a birthday voucher. How much did Nadia save altogether compared with the jacket's original price?
- $6
- $8.80
- $10
- $12
Need a hint?
Find the jacket's original price first. Both discounts were subtracted from different amounts, so add the two savings carefully.
Worked answer
- Original price = $24 ÷ (100% − 20%) = $30.
- Total amount saved = ($30 − $24) + $4 = $10.
