A courier company calculates a delivery fee, in dollars, using 4p − 12 + p ÷ 2, where p is the number of parcels. If p = 16, find the delivery fee.
Need a hint?
Replace p with 16, then perform the multiplication and division before the subtraction and addition.
Worked answer
- Substitute p = 16: 4 × 16 − 12 + 16 ÷ 2.
- 4 × 16 = 64 and 16 ÷ 2 = 8.
- 64 − 12 + 8 = 60.
