1 ℓ of soup is shared equally among 2 cousins. How much soup does each of them get? Give your answer in millilitres.

Need a hint?

Share first (1 ÷ 2), then change the fraction of a litre into millilitres.

Worked answer

  1. Each gets 1 ÷ 2 = 1/2 ℓ.
  2. 1/2 ℓ = 1/2 × 1000 mℓ = 500 mℓ.

Converting units (kg, ℓ, m, cm³)

Each share is 1 ÷ 2 = 1/2 ℓ. The question wants millilitres: 1 ℓ = 1000 mℓ, so 1/2 × 1000 = 500 mℓ.
